314 2016/5/17 Taxi from ogizawa to Matsumoto?
We are considering taking the alpine route from tateyama to ogizawa. The last bus from ogizawa to shinano omachi leaves at 5 pm, but
Is it possible to take a taxi from ogizawa to Matsumoto in the evening (around 6 pm)? And what are the costs?

Note of webmaster: Hi, Linda
The last bus leaves at 5:55 pm from Apr 16 till Nov 3.
If you want to take a taxi, I think some taxis are waiting or you can call it. Matsumoto is far from Omachi and it seems it takes around 13,000 yen.
Have a nice trip!

313 2016/5/9 English and/or French teacher available
Richa G.

I am searching for a part time job where I can give English and/or French lessons.

I am an Indian (a native speaker of English) pursuing masters in France but currently on an exchange program at the Shinshu university.

I am free on the weekends and post 5 pm on weekdays.

I would be very thankful if anyone here could help me in any way! :)

Best regards,

Hi I will be visiting Matsumoto with my 2 sons 11 and 13 year olds. I want to go to the hot springs, but I'm not comfortable with my boys separated from me going into hot springs- is there any way to get around this?

Note of webmaster: Umm.. Some hot spring ryokans (Japanese style inns) have private (family) bath rooms, but I wonder 11 and 13 year old boys might not want to show their naked bodies to you. In that case, you should look for ryokans where you can use two private bath rooms.
Or, if you don't mind public mixed open air bath (use towel to hide your body) of Awanoyu in Shirahone Hot Springs, it might be a solution and interesting experience.

311 2016/5/4 It is safe to walk from matsumoto at 02.00 am?
the bus from tokyo at 22.45 - n arrive Matsumoto at 01.45, it is safe to walk at 02.00 am from bus stop to matsumoto station?

what is the matsumoto station open for people at 02.00 am, so we can wait there till the first train to shinano omachi at 04.35 am?

Note of webmaster: Hi Agnes,
The bus stop is along a road and just a few minute walk to Matsumoto station.
In Japan, it is almost safe even mid-night, especially in our local town Matsumoto (maybe no people at all outside).
But, I think the station closes until 15 - 30 min before the first train. Refer to this previous question and my answer.

Additional info: a long and wide concourse of the Matsumoto Station aren't locked 24 hours. There is no chair, but you can wait your train in the concourse (not so dangerous, I think).

Sadhna Gulati
Dear Andy,

Thank you for yoyr quick reply, I really appreciate the same!
I just had one doubt - if I also plan to cover Japan Alpine Route and the Gifu cultural heritage, would village inn seizansou be inconvenient?

Any recommendations where I should put up to cover these?

Thank you in advance!

Note of webmaster: Hi again,
Do "Japan Alpine Route" mean "Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route" and "the Gifu cultural heritage" mean Shirakawa-go or Gokayama World Heritage?
If so, Seizansou is inconvenient because it is located far from Matsumoto Station and opposite direction to the two destinations, even though it is located in a quiet good place.
Hotels near the Matsumoto Station (i.e. Matsukaze, New Station, etc) in "Downtown" section of our Accommodation page, or, other area near your destinations (i.e. Omachi Onsenkyo near Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route) might be better.

308 2016/4/26 Please Help

Needed an advice on 2 things. It would be lovely if I could recieve some guidance.

1. I am travelling to Village Inn Seizanso from 30th April to 3rd May - this week, for my golden week vacation.

I live in Tokyo, so I plan to take the highway bus to Matsumoto. Could you kindly guide me how can i reach Village Inn Seizansou from Matsumoto? It would be very helpful!

2. It is my first time in Japanese Alps, please could you suggest any places where I should visit which I should not miss?

I would appreciate all your help!

Note of webmaster: Hi, Sadhna

1. Village Inn Seizanso is located at a little inconvenient (but quiet) place. It seems that you should take Matsubara Bus Line from Matsumoto Bus Terminal and get off at Chushin Matsumoto Byoin (hospital). Then, walk 15 mins (go up to Gofukuji (temple)) to the Inn. The bus leaves at 9:30, 11:00, 13:00, 15:30 and 18:00 on weekends according to this timetable.

2. It is the best season to visit Kamikochi, I think.
Also, Joyama Park is a good point of the Japan Alps view.
Gofukuji (temple), 20 min walk from the inn, a farmers' market, close to the Hospital Bus Stop, and Baba Family Residence, which is a good viewpoint of the Japan Alps, is just 15 min from the inn and bus stop.
Enjoy your stay,

- Andy

307 2016/4/17 Orange locations
Hello, I'm planning a day trip from Tokyo to visit Orange manga and movie locations in Matsumoto. Do you know if the attached location map is still available (or is there a soft copy)?

I also have a question about bus services to Jouyama kouen. I saw on "Matsumoto Concierge Map" that there are only 2 bus services a day to the park. However in alpico website, the misayama line seems to go to the park 8 times a day, so I'm quite confused... Are there two parks with the same name? Is it better to take a taxi?

Do you know where I can find more information on the locations? Sorry to ask so many questions, and hope to hear from you soon :)

Note of webmaster: Hi, Michelle
I am surprised and glad that foreigners know and like Orange. There are two (movie and manga) location maps. I have confirmed that two Matsumoto TIC's still have the maps.

As for the bus, the Misayama line and also Kita Shinai Line West Loop(西まわり) stops at "Joyama Koen Guchi(城山公園口)" and you have to walk 15 min. Another Alps Koen line, two services per day, stops at "Marunouchi Junior High School(丸の内中学校前)" and just a few min walk.

I think most locations are on the two maps.
Enjoy finding them,
- Andy

306 2016/4/15 craft workshop to make temari ball
Hello! An American friend will be visiting me in Matsumoto on May 10th and 11th. She would like to learn how to make a temari ball herself. Do you know of a place in Matsumoto or Azumino where she could do this? Thanks for your help!

Note of webmaster: Hi again, Shirley-san
She can experience it in the souvenir shop Takagi, in front of the castle, I suppose. See here.
