A long-established creative Japanese and Western sweets shop with local color

Kaiundo is a famous sweets shop in Matsumoto, established in 1884, and started having Western sweets in 1955. People in the local area use our sweets for gifts, and visitors like to get them for souvenirs.

Selected ingredients for confections

The most popular sweets are Shinmito, a kind of Japanese taffy with walnuts, honey, and sugar. This confection is used in the Japanese tea ceremony. Dorayaki is popular too. It is a type of Japanese baked sweet which consists of two small pancakes filled with sweet red bean paste. You can watch a video on how to produce Dorayaki at the shop.

Ice Cream Robot welcomes you!! Robot is popular among visitors and local high school students. You can get an exclusive coin when you pay 300 yen and Robot will make today’s special for you.

We have Japanese and Western sweets. Our confections take its origin from Matsumoto which is different from Kyoto, Edo, or Tokyo. The ingredients are cultivated from this ground, climate, and local people. Ice Cream Robot is the only one at a shop in the world. Young and old, men and women love seeing it. Please have a taste! The floor area is designated non-smoking, but for your convenience you can taste ice cream at a corner of the shop.
