66 2017/5/8 Kamikochi to Matsumoto

is there a direct bus from Kamikochi to Matsumoto? where can I get it?

and how often are the buses back to Tokyo from Matsumoto?

Thanks ahead :)

Note of webmaster: Hi there,

There is a direct bus from Kamikochi to Matsumoto twice a day. One departs at 16:00 and the other 16:45. See the bus schedule here.

Also, there are buses from Matsumoto to Tokyo about once every hour (sometimes twice in an hour). You can check the bus schedule here.

65 2017/4/11 Any coin locker?
I would like to do a day trip to matsumoto and would like to find out if there is luggage storage at the tourist information centre at JR matsumato station. thank you.

Note of webmaster: Hi, Gloria
There are coin lockers at some places in the Station. See this page about the location, size, price and number. You can ask the Tourist Information Centre in the station when you can't find the place or a vacant locker.
Good luck,
- Andy

64 2017/3/16 Kai

I am hoping to visit Matsumoto in August and attend the Seiji Ozawa Festival orchestra concerts. Is there any group or individual that can assist me to purchase the ticket, and plan for my stay at Matsumoto?

I've read somewhere that hotel rooms are hard to book especially during the music festival in August. Will there still be vacant rooms if I book in June?

Looking forward to some suggestions and advice. Thank you!

Note of webmaster: Hi, Kai-san
Teddy Yamaishi in Matsumoto Tourism & Convention Association sent you a reply by e-mail. Please check your e-mail.

63 2016/12/1 Soba noodle making workshop

My family and I will be visiting Matsumoto in December. I read online there is soba noodle making workshop available at soba takagi in Matsumoto. May I ask how do I make reservations for the workshop?
Or do you have any recommendations on soba making workshops?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,
May Leong

Note of webmaster: Hello May,
I communicated with Takagi and sent you e-mail.
Could you tell me whether the cost (6000 yen) and time OK and whether you eat soba you made after the experience?
Takagi is located at a very convenient place (close to the castle) and they also have a soba restaurant inside the building. So, I think it is a good place to experience making tasty Soba.

62 2016/11/4 Fruit picking at Fumondi Shiojiri
Dear Andy
Catherine again! Really excited to be visiting Matsumoto soon! Thanks for your recommendation. I will go for all of them. While we can catch a taxi from Shiojiri Station, will taxi be available from farm to station? Will my father on wheelchair welcome to the farm? Thanks for advice!

Note of webmaster: Hello again!
I think you can ask a person in the orchard to "call" a taxi. Fumonji's website says they have a toilet for wheelchair, so I think your father will be welcome.
Recently it is a little cold here (around 5 ℃ degree at night), so prepare warm clothes for you and your father.
Have a nice trip,
- Andy

61 2016/10/10 matsumoto
I will be travelling with my 70 year old parents to Matsumoto for 4 nights in November 2016. My dad is on wheelchair as he can't walk far. May I be sent information of places of interest that are suitable for wheelchair to move around. Is there a place in Matsumoto for beautiful autumn foliage? Thanks

Note of webmaster: Hi,
Agatanomori Park near Matsumoto Museum of Art (your father can see Yayoi Kusama's art works on wheelchair if he is interested) is a good place to see around on wheelchair and probably you can see autumn foliage until early or mid-November. The north road of Matsumoto Castle has a wide pedestrian and cherry trees become beautiful maybe early Nov.
Narai-juku (old post town) where you can access by JR has a wide paved road so good for wheelchair.
If you visit the event hall in Takashimaya Department Store in Singapore Oct 28-30, Japan Travel Fair will be held and Mr. Yamaishi of Matsumoto booth can talk with you about the details.
I hope your father enjoy Matsumoto with you.

60 2016/10/2 White ribbons
Hi, I'm walking along Matsumoto and I see many streets hanging white ribbons. What does that mean?

Note of webmaster: Hi, Stacey
A natural and good question. It is a Japanese custom and it means "a shrine festival is held". This weekend, Yohashira Shrine 'Shinto Festival' was held. Today, I carried a float.

59 2016/9/27 Matsumoto Station to Joyama Park
Hi Andy

In one of your earlier replies to a guest, you mentioned that one can take the Alps Koen Line bus to Joyama Park.

As the link to the schedule is not in English, I couldn't understand how to make my way to the park. May I know if I can take a bus to Joyama Park from Matsumoto Station?

Thank you!

Note of webmaster: Hi Stacey,

As I replied to the earlier question, 開松(Hirakimatsu) is the nearest bus stop to Joyama Park. According to the bus timetable, the bus (No.45, to Alps Park) departs from the bus terminal 11:00 and 14:00.
Good luck and take care,
- Andy

58 2016/6/6 Thank you!
Hi Andy, thank you for your help earlier on the Orange locations. We successfully completed the day trip last week and visited all the locations planned, mainly Nawate dori, Yohashira jinja, Matsumoto jo, Joyama koen & Agatanomori koen. The lady at the TIC near Matsumoto jo was really helpful, and we successfully gotten the two (manga and movie) location maps from there as well.

Jouyama koen was the most challenging (physically, lol) but the view that greeted us there was magnificent! Agatanomori koen itself was very pretty and well maintained. Thank you once again for your help. It was a fulfilling and enjoyable day trip!

Note of webmaster: It is our pleasure that you found out all the locations and enjoyed them!
Thanks for your comment.
Come again if you have a chance.
- Andy
