I will be travelling with my 70 year old parents to Matsumoto for 4 nights in November 2016. My dad is on wheelchair as he can't walk far. May I be sent information of places of interest that are suitable for wheelchair to move around. Is there a place in Matsumoto for beautiful autumn foliage? Thanks
Note of webmaster: Hi,
Agatanomori Park near Matsumoto Museum of Art (your father can see Yayoi Kusama's art works on wheelchair if he is interested) is a good place to see around on wheelchair and probably you can see autumn foliage until early or mid-November. The north road of Matsumoto Castle has a wide pedestrian and cherry trees become beautiful maybe early Nov.
Narai-juku (old post town) where you can access by JR has a wide paved road so good for wheelchair.
If you visit the event hall in Takashimaya Department Store in Singapore Oct 28-30, Japan Travel Fair will be held and Mr. Yamaishi of Matsumoto booth can talk with you about the details.
I hope your father enjoy Matsumoto with you.

In one of your earlier replies to a guest, you mentioned that one can take the Alps Koen Line bus to Joyama Park.
As the link to the schedule is not in English, I couldn't understand how to make my way to the park. May I know if I can take a bus to Joyama Park from Matsumoto Station?
Note of webmaster: Hi Stacey,
As I replied to the earlier question, 開松(Hirakimatsu) is the nearest bus stop to Joyama Park. According to the bus timetable, the bus (No.45, to Alps Park) departs from the bus terminal 11:00 and 14:00.
Good luck and take care,

Hello, I'm planning a day trip from Tokyo to visit Orange manga and movie locations in Matsumoto. Do you know if the attached location map is still available (or is there a soft copy)?
I also have a question about bus services to Jouyama kouen. I saw on "Matsumoto Concierge Map" that there are only 2 bus services a day to the park. However in alpico website, the misayama line seems to go to the park 8 times a day, so I'm quite confused... Are there two parks with the same name? Is it better to take a taxi?
Do you know where I can find more information on the locations? Sorry to ask so many questions, and hope to hear from you soon :)
Note of webmaster: Hi, Michelle
I am surprised and glad that foreigners know and like Orange. There are two (movie and manga) location maps. I have confirmed that two Matsumoto TIC's still have the maps.
As for the bus, the Misayama line and also Kita Shinai Line West Loop(西まわり) stops at "Joyama Koen Guchi(城山公園口)" and you have to walk 15 min. Another Alps Koen line, two services per day, stops at "Marunouchi Junior High School(丸の内中学校前)" and just a few min walk.
I think most locations are on the two maps.
Enjoy finding them,

My family of 4 plan to travel to Alpine Route from Matsumoto hotel in a day trip in sometime 13th or 14th May 16. Can you give me some suggestion and traveling/transportation tips either on our own by train/Bus or by package.
What are the cost?
After the Alpine Route will go back to Matsumoto. Our hotel will be near the Matsumoto stn.
Is there any transport pass or promotion if starts from Matsumoto?
(2) I also plan to travel to Takayama from Matsumoto with 1 nigh stay, it that enough for Takayama? Any traveling tips from bus or any good transport deal?
Note of webmaster: Hi, Florence
You are coming to Matsumoto and Alpine Route in the most beautiful season!
The way Matsumoto from/to Alpine Route is only one (no package tour, no discount pass). Just take train to Shinano Omachi Station (670 yen) and ride a bus or taxi to Ogizawa ( 1,360 yen or a taxi 6,400 yen per 4).
If you see around downtown Takayama and even visit Shirakawago, 1 stay in Takayama is enough I think. If you go to Shirakawago, Shinshu–Hida Wide Free Passport might be a good deal.
Enjoy your trip,

What's the easiest way to travel from Omachi Osenkyo (end of Alpine Route) to Matsumoto?
Note of webmaster: Hi, Chen-san
Take a local bus (or taxi) to Shinano Omachi Station then take a train (JR) to Matsumoto. See http://www.kanko-omachi.gr.jp/en/access and http://www.kanko-omachi.gr.jp/en/alpen_route/access#omachi for details.
Have a wonderful trip of the Alpine Route and Matsumoto!

Is there pottery/claymaking workshop for elementary children
Is Togakushi Village Ninja Park too far for a daytrip or should I stay one night there?
Will all the winter spots in Nagano be closed by 26May2016?
Thank you so much
Note of webmaster: Hi, Wendy-san
1. Nomado in Nakamachi Street is a gallery and also you can experience pottery (reservation is required by the previous day). I asked the owner about your question and she says, "Yes, elementary children can experience simple pottery but we can't speak English well. One concern is, poetry needs firing process so we have to send your works to your country later."
2. It takes two or three hours to Togakushi Ninja Park (close in winter until April 22) by train to Nagano and bus (one way). So, if you leave Matsumoto early in the morning, you can come back in the evening.
3. Yes, all ski resorts close by early May. But, you can see and touch remaining snow and may enjoy sleigh (and skilled skiers ski) in Norikura even in the end of May.
