The Suziki paedagogical method, named after its creator, Dr. Shin'ichi Suzuki, aims at grooming young children into accomplished, responsible and loving adults through an astute mix of classical music study (esp. the violin) and core principles of Zen-Buddhism such as imitation, discipline and repetition. Since its inception in 1945 at his Talent Education School in Matsumoto, the method has spectacularly made its way around the globe, under wide acclaim despite some critical voices.
During your stay in Matsumoto, you might pay a visit to the Suzuki Shinichi Memorial Hall, the modest house where he developed and finetuned his revolutionary method. To get a feel of how it might work for your children, also visit the Talent Education Institute (3-10-15 Fukashi, Google Map), where you can observe group lessons and enjoy student concerts.
